Jindal Steel & Power defeated ASC/ARTY to win the Sawai Man
Singh Gold Vase at the
Jaipur Polo
Ground, New Delhi.
Jindal Steel & Power emerged winners of the
prestigious Sawai Man Singh Gold Vase (8 Goal) beating ASC/ARTY by 8
goals to 6.5 in the exciting finals played today at the Jaipur Polo
Ground. The Prizes were given away by Lt Gen RK Gupta,PVSM,ADC, Director
General Supplies & Transport to the players.
The final of the Sawai Man Singh Gold Vase was played today at the
Jaipur Polo Ground between Jindal Steel & Power and ASC/ARTY. Simran
Shergill opened the account for Jindal Steel & Power and Gonzalo Bordieu
added one more goal. ASC/ARTY started their match with 1.5 goal on
handicap and Dhruvpal Godara converted 40 yard penalty in the 1st
chukker. In the 2nd chukker Gonzalo Bordieu converted a 60 yard penalty
and scored 2 field goals for Jindal Steel & Power while Dhrvupal Godara
converted 2 panalties for ASC/ARTY. The score was 5 – 4.5 in favour of
Jindal Steel & Power. In the 3rd chukker Gonzalo Bordieu again scored 2
goals (one through conversion of 30 yard penalty and one field goal) for
Jindal Steel & Power while Dhruvpal Godara converted a 40 yard penalty
for ASC/ARTY. In the 4th chukker both teams came forward with their best
pony power and displayed superb horsemanship and stick work. Dhruvpal
Godara converted a 40 yard penalty to reduce the margin 6.5 to 7 goals
but Gonzalo Bordieu played brilliantly and scored a goal to ensure the
victory of the Jindal Steel & Power. Scorers for Jindal Steel & Power
were Gonzalo Bordieu (7), Simran Shergill (1). Dhruvpal was lone scorer
who scored all 5 goals for ASC/ARTY.

Sawai Man Singh Gold Vase (8 Goal) Polo tournament commenced
today with four team participating. The first league match of
the tournament played today at the Army Equestrian Centre.
Cavalry (Black) beat ASC/Arty by 5 goals to 4.5.
The first league match of the tournament played today between
Cavalry (Black) and ASC/Arty was an exciting and closely
contested match. Lt Col Atul Gupta converted two 40 yard
penalties for Cavalry (Black) while Dhrupal Godara converted a
40 yard penalty in the 2nd chukker for ASC/ARTY who started with
1.5 goal on handicap advantage. Lt Col Atul Gupta again
converted a 60 yard penalty for Cavalry (Black) in 2nd chukker.
In the 3rd chukker Dhruvpal Godara converted a 60 yard penalty
for ASC/ARTY while Lt Col Navjit Sandhu cored one goal for
Cavalry (Black). The score was 4 - 3.5 in favour of Cavalry
(Black). In the beginning of 4th chukker Dhruvpal Godara scored
one goal for ASC/ARTY to take their team into the lead but Lt
Col Atul Gupta once again scored a goal for Cavalry (Black) to
take their team into the lead once again and won the match.
Scorers for Cavalry (Black) were Lt Col Atul Gupta (4), Lt Col
Navjit Sandhu (1). Scorers for ASC/ARTY was Dhruvpal Godara (3)
and started with 1.5 goal on handicap.

Cavalry Red defeated Jindal Steel and Power 8.5 goals to 7, and
ASC/ARTY defeated Cavalry Black 4.5 goals to 3 in a league
matches of the Sawai Man Singh Gold Vase polo tournament at the
Jaipur Polo Ground.
Scorers for Cavalry (Red): Ravi Rathore (5), Tarun Sirohi (3)
and they started with a 1/2 goal handicap. Scorers for Jindal
Steel & Power: Gonzalo Bordieu (3), Simran Shergill (2), Bhawani
Singh Kalvi (1) and Mahesh Sharma (1).
Scorers for ARC/ARTY: Dhruvpal Godara (2) and J. S. Shekhawat
(1) and started with a 1-1/2 goal handicap advantage. Scorers
for Cavalry (Black): Atul Gupta (1), Navjit Sandhu (1), Sameer
Chaudhary (1).

Jindal Steel & Power beat Cavalry (Red) by 7 goals to 3.5 in the
last league match of Sawai Man Singh Gold Vase (8 Goal) Polo
tournament played today at the Jaipur Polo Ground.
The last league match of the tournament played between Jindal
Steel & Power and Cavalry (Red) was a hard fought match but
turned one sided affair. Cavalry (Red) started their match with
1.5 goal lead from yesterday's match and Lt Col Tarun Sirohi
scored the first field goal in the 2nd chukker while Simran
Shergill opened the account and Bhawani Singh Kalvi added one
more goal for Jindal Steel & Power in the 1st chukker. In the
2nd chukker Simran Sherigll and Bhawani Singh Kavli again added
one goal each for Jindal Steel & Power. In the 3rd chukker
Cavalry (Red) could not score any goal while Bhawani Singh Kalvi
and Gonzalo Bordieu scored brilliant goals for Jindal Steel &
Power. In the last chukker Simran Shergill scored one more goal
to ensure their victory while Capt Vishal Chauhan scored one
goal for Cavalry (Red) to reduce the margin. Scorers for Jindal
Steel & Power were Simran Shergill (3), Bhawani Singh Kalvi (3),
Gonzalo Bordieu (1). Scorers for Cavalry (Red) were Lt Col Tarun
Sirohi (1), Capt Vishal Chauhan (1).
