Jindal Steel & Power outplayed Cavalry (Black) to win the Maharaja Sir Pratap Singh Cup (14 goal) at the
Jaipur Polo
Ground, New Delhi.
Jindal Steel & Power emerged winners of the prestigious Sir
Pratap Singh Cup (14 Goal) polo tournament beating Cavalry (Black) by 8 goals to
6.5 in an exciting finals played today at the Jaipur Polo Ground. Shri Naveen
Jindal, MP gave away the prizes to the players.
The finals played between Jindal Steel & Power and Cavalry (Black) was a very
existing, hard fought and thrilling match. Jindal Steel & Power was a 14 goal
team while Cavalry (Balck) was a 13 goals team. In the 1st Chukkker Gonzalo
Bordieu scored 3 goals (2 goals through penalties and one field goal) while Capt
Vishal Chauhan scored the first field goal for Cavalry (Black) who started with
1/2 goal handicap. In the 2nd chukker Lt Col Tarun Sirohi scored a brilliant
goal and Vishal Singh converted a 40 yard penalty for Cavalry (Black) while
Jindal Steel & Power could not score any goal in this chukker. In the 3rd
chukker Simran Shergill scored 2 goals for Jindal Steel & Power while Vishal
Singh scored 2 goals and Lt Col Tarun Sirohi added one more goal for Cavalry
(Black). The score was 6.5 goals to 5 in favour Cavalry (Black) at the end of
3rd chukker. 4th chukker was played at very fast pace in which Gonzalo Bordieu
converted a 60 yard penalty and scored one field goal to take lead once again 7
to 6.5, while after doing their best Cavalry (Black) could not score any goal.
In the last chukker both teams played hard match. Gonzalo Bordieu scored
brilliant a goal for Jindal Steel & Power to ensure victory of their team.

Sir Pratap Singh Cup (14 goals) started today with 5 teams
participating in this prestigious tournament. The tournament
will be played on league basis. The winning team will get 2
points, Draw one point and loser will get no point.
The opening match of the tournament played between Cavalry (Red)
and Horse & Wagon was very closely contested as both team
combined well. Both the team scored 2 goals each in the 1st
chukker and 2 goals each in the 2nd chukker. The score was 3-3
at half time. Third chukker was very fast in which Horse & Wagon
scored 4 goals against 2 goals by Cavalry (Red). The score was
7-5. Cavalry (Red) came forward with their best mounts in the
last chukker and scored 3 quick goals to take lead 8-7 but Horse
& Wagon scored a goal in the dying seconds of the match to level
the score 8-8. Both the team got 1 point each.

First match was played between Jindal Steel & Power in which
Jindal was a 14 goal team and Cavalry (Red) was 11 goal team so
as Cavalry (Red) started with 2 goals on handicap and scored one
goal each in 1st and 2nd chukker while Jindal Steel & Power
scored 2 goals in 1st chukker, three goals in 2nd chukker and 4
goals in 3rd chukker. The score was 9 goals to 4 in favour of
Jindal Steel & Power at the start of 4th chukker . In the last
chukker Cavalry (Red) scored 3 goals while Jindal Steel & Power
scored one goal. Scorers for Jindal Steel & Power were Gonzalo
Bordieu (4), Simran Shergill (4), Manupal Godara (2). Scorers
for Cavalry (Red) were Dhruvpal Godara (3) Lt Col Navjit Sandhu
(1) and they started with 2 goal on handicap.
Second match of the tournament played between Cavalry (Black)
and Elevation was played at fast pace. Cavalry (Black) started
with 1/2 goal on handicap and scored 5 goals, 3 goals in a row
by Vishal Singh Singh and 2 goals through Capt Vishal Chauhan
while Elevation could not score any goal in 1st chukker and
scored 2 goals each in 2nd and 3rd chukker. Cavalry (Black)
again scored 1 goal in 2nd chukker and 2 goals in 3rd chukker.
The score was 8.5 goals to 4 in favour of Cavalry (Black). 4th
chukker was goal less. Scorers for Cavalry (Black) were Vishal
Singh (5), Capt Vishal Chauhan (2), Maj Ravi Rathore (1).

Last league matches of prestigious Sir Pratap Singh Cup were
played today at the Jaipur Polo Ground. Jindal Steel & Power
beat Horse & Wagon by 8 goals to 6 and Cavalry (Black) beat
Elevation by 6.5 goals to 6. The tournament was played at half
league basis with five teams participating. Five teams divided
into two pools, 3 teams in pool A and 2 teams in Pool B. In Pool
A all three teams played with each other. Jindal Steel & Power
won 2 matches and enter in the finals while in Pool B two teams
had played twice and Cavalry (Black) won both matches and
entered in the finals.
Jindal Steel & Power will meet Cavalry (Black) in the finals of
Sir Pratap Singh Cup 14Goals) on Sunday at the Jaipur Polo
Ground at 3:30 PM.
The first match of the day played between Jindal Steel & Power
and Horse & Wagon. Jindal Steel & Power was a 14 goal team
whereas Horse and Wagon was an 11 goal team so Horse & Wagon
started the play with 2 goals on handicap. Abhimanyu Pathak
opened the account for Jindal Steel & Power, Gonzalo Bardieu and
Simran Shergill also added one goal each in the 1st chukker.
Angad Kalaan scored first field goal for Horse & Wagon in the
2nd chukker and Ransher Singh was other scorer while Abhimanyu
Pathak again scored a goal for Jindal Steel & Power in this
chukker. The 3rd chukker was dominated to Jindal Steel & Power
in which Gonzalo Bardieu scored 3 goals (2 goals through
penalties and one field goal) while Angad Kalaan scored one goal
for Horse & Wagon. The score was 7 goals to 5 in favour Jindal
Steel & Power. In the last chukker both teams scored one goal
each. The finals score was 8 - 6 in favour of Jindal Steel &
Power. Scorers for Jindal Steel & Power were - Gonzalo Bardieu
(4), Simran Shergill (2), Abhimanyu Pathak (2). Scorers for
Horse & Wagon were – Angad Kalaan (3), Ransher Singh (1) and
they started with 2 goals on handicap.
The last league match of the tournament played between Cavalry
(Black) and Elevation was an exciting and hard fought match. At
the very beginning of the match Angad Singh scored opening goal
for Elevation and Gerardo Mazzini converted a 30 yard penalty
while Vishal Singh converted a 40 yard penalty for Cavalry
(Black) who started with 1/2 goal on handicap in the 1st
chukker. In the 2nd chukker Vishal Singh again converted two
brilliant 40 yard penalties while Gerardo Mazzini scored a goal
for Elevation. In this match the 3rd chukker dominated to
Cavarly (Black) in which Vishal Singh scored 2 goals and Maj
Ravi Rathore added one goal while Gerardo Mazzini converted a 30
yard penalty for Elevation. In the last chukker Elevation scored
2 goals to narrow the margin 6 to 6.5. The scorers for Cavalry
(Black) were - Vishal Singh (5), Maj Ravi Rathore (1). Scorers
for Elevation were - Gerardo Mazzini (4), Gaston Otamendi (1),
Angad Singh (1).
