Southern Command Cup FINALS (Apr 2, Mumbai) ARC vs Piramal Enterprises.

The finals of the Southern Command Cup were played on Mon April 2 at the Polo Ground in Mumbai between Piramal Enterprises and the Amateur Riders Club team. The Piramal team comprised of Vishal Singh +5, Basheer Ali +3, Harsh piramal +1, Abishek Tapuriah 0. ARC was represented by Uday Kalaan +4, Raj Shroff +2, Mitesh Mehta +1, Brian Alexander +1.
Right from the 1st chukkar the Piramal team dominated the game with Basheer scoring 3 goals and Vishal Singh scoring 2 goals in the first chukkar. At the end of the 1st chukkar Piramals led ARC 5 goals to 1/2 goals. The second chukkar was a little slower with Piramal (Basheer) and ARC (Uday Kalaan) both scoring a goal each. The 3rd chukkar saw an interesting goal from Mitesh Mehta who took the ball all the way from the throw in. Piramals answered this with 3 goals (Basheer 2, Vishal 1) in the 3rd chukkar. At the end of the 3rd chukkar it was 9 goals for Piramals to 2 1/2 for ARC. Uday Kalaan played a brilliant game for ARC but the Piramal team was too much for ARC to handle. In the 4th chukkar Vishal and Basheer scored 1 unanswered goal each to end the final of the Southern Command Cup with Piramal Enterprises winning the trophy with a whopping 11 goals to 2 1/2 for Amateur Riders Club.


Semi final 2 Southern Command Cup ends in favour of ARC (Mar 30)

The Second semi final of the Southern Command Cup was played on Fri Mar 30 between Officers Choice and Amateur Riders Club. 
ARC consisted of Uday Kalaan +4, Raj Shroff +2, Mitesh Mehta +1, Brian Alexander +1.
Officers Choice comprised of Shyam Mariwala +2, Dinyar Madon 0, Samir Suhag +6, Shyam Mehta +2.
Due to the handicap difference ARC started off with 1 1/2 goals, however, Samir Suhag quickly scored 2 goals in the first chukkar to neutralize the lead. Samir Suhag was not in great form for the match. Mitesh and Uday once again scored a goal each in the second chukkar to once again take the lead. In the 3 rd chukkar Samir Suhag and Uday Kalaan scored 2 goals each for their respective teams. At the end of the 3rd it was ARC 5 1/2 to 4 for Officers Choice. Today was the day for ARC to shine. They combined very well and scored another unanswered goal in the 4th to clinch a spot in the final. ARC won the game 6 1/2 goals to 4 for the Officers Choice team who were truly disappointed to have lost this match.


Semi final 1 of Southern Command Cup. Armoured Corps Vs Piramal

The 1st semi-final of the Southern Command Cup was played between Piramal Enterprises and Armoured Corps at the Polo Ground in Mumbai on Thu March 29 at 5:30 pm.
The Piramal Enterprises team was Vishal Singh +5, Basheer Ali +3, Harsh piramal +1, Abishek Tapuriah 0. 
The Armoured Corps were represented by Dfr Bhavini Singh +1, Lt Akhil Sirhoi +2, Capt JS Shekhawat +2, Lt Col YK Singh +2.
Due to the handicap difference Armoured Corps started off with 1 1/2 goals. Both teams were playing well. In the 1st chukkar Vishal scored 2 goals and Basheer 1 for Piramals while Shekhawat scored 2 for Armoured Corps. In the second chukkar Harsh and Basheer scored for Piramal while Shekhawat and YK SIngh scored a goal each for Armoured Corps. At the end of the second chukkar Armoured Corps were leading Piramal with a score of 5 1/2 to 5 for Piramals. 
After the 2nd chukkar Abishek Tapuriah was replaced by Vishal Nihalani in the Piramal Enterprises team. In the 3rd chukkar Akhil and Shekhawat scored a goal each for Armoured Corps while Vishal Singh knocked in 2 for Piramals. At the end og the 3rd Armoured Corps led by 1/2 a goal. The way they were playing it seemed like Armoured Corps would pull off an upset. However, it was not to be. In the 4th chukkar Vicki Nihalani, Basheer, and Harsh Piramal each scored unanswered goals for the Piramal team to secure their place in the finals of the Southern Command Cup. The final score was 10 goals for Piramal Enterprises to 7 1/2 for Armoured Corps.
