Elevation emerged winners of the Maharaja Jiwaji Scindia Gold Cup (12 goal) beating fancied Himalayan Horse by 5.5 to 3 goals in the exciting finals played at the Jaipur Polo Ground today.

The stand at the Jaipur Polo Ground saw packed with huge crowed enjoying the finals through out the evening. The underdog Elevation team started with their play with 1/2 goal on handicap. Gerardo Mazzini scored opening goal for Elevation and again converted a 60 yard penalty, Bhawani Singh Kalvi scored another goal. Manupal Godara converted a spot hit in 3rd chukker for Himalayan Horse till that they were unable to score any goal while Gerardo Mazzini and Bhawani Singh Kalvi again scored one goal each in this chukker for Elevation. The score was 5.5 to 1 in favour of Elevation. In the 4th chukker both teams came forward with their best pony power and played superb game, Lokendra Singh and Manupal Godara scored one goal each for Himalayan Horse to narrow the margin but could not reach the target while Elevation could not score any goal. Scorer for Elevation were Gerardo Mazzini (3), Bhawani Singh Kalvi (2). Scorers for Himalayan Horse were Manupal Godara (2), Lokendra Singh (1).

Maharaja Jiwaji Scindia Gold Cup (12 goal) polo tournament started today with 6 teams participating. The tournament is being played on half league format. 6 teams are divided into 2 Pools and winners of each Pool will play each other in the final on Sunday, 01 Mar 2009.

The first league match of the tournament was played today between Elevation and Horse & Wagon. Elevation team was 11 goal team and Horse and Wagon was 9 goal team. Horse & Wagon started with 1.5 goal on advantage handicap. Gerardo Mazzini opened the account, Bhawani Singh Kalvi and Satinder Garcha were other scorer for Elevation while Adhiraj Singh and Angad Kalaan scored one goal each for Horse & Wagon in the 1st chukker. In the 2nd chukker Gerardo Mazzini converted 3 penalties and Bhawani Singh Kalvi added one more goal for Elevation while Angad Kalaan scored 2 goals for Horse & Wogan. In the 3rd chukker Satinder Garcha scord 2 goals and Angad Singh scored one goal for Elevation while Adhiraj Singh scored one goal for Horse & Wagon. The score was 10 - 6.5 at the end of 3rd chukker. In the last chukker Gerardo Mazzini and Bahwani Singh Kalvi scored 2 goals each to increase their lead 14 to 6.5. Himalayan Horse beat Jindal/Sahgal beat by 6.5 goals to 6 in Pool A match and Cavalry (Red) beat Horse & Wagon by 5 goals to 3.5 in Pool B match of the Maharaja Jiwaji Scindia Gold Cup (12 goal) polo tournament played today at the Jaipur Polo Ground.

The first match of the day was played between Himalayan Horse and Jindal/Sahgal was an exciting event. Gonzalo Bardieu opened the account for Jindal/Sahgal by converting a 40 yard penalty while Bhupinder Singh opened the account for Himalayan Horse and Manupal Godara scored another. They started with 1/2 goal on handicap. In the 2nd chukker Gonzalo Bardieu converted two 30 yard penalties while Manupal Godara was the lone scorer for Himalayan Horse in this chukker. In the 3rd chukker Gonzalo Bardieu again converted two 30 yard penalties and Simran Shergill scored another goal for Jindal/Sahgal while Lokendra Singh scored a goal and Manupal Godara converted a 30 yard penalty for Himalayan Horse. The score was 6 to 5.5 in favour of Jindal/Sahgal. In the 4th chukker Manupal Godara scored a brilliant goal for Himalayan Horse which won the match. Scorers for Jindal/Sahgal were Gonzalo Bardieu (5), Simran Shergill (1). Scorers for Himalayan Horse were Manupal Godara (4), Bhupinder Singh (1), Lokendra Singh (1).

The second match of the day was played between Cavalry (Red) and Horse & Wagon was also an exciting match but low scoring. Lt Col Navjit Sandhu opened the account for Cavalry (Red) and Lt Col Tarun Sirohi scored another goal while Angad Kalaan scored 2 goals for Horse & Wagon. In the 2nd chukker Lt Col Tarun Sirohi scored a goal for Cavalry (Red) while Preetendra Singh scored one goal for Horse & Wagon. The score waS 3.5 - 3 in favour of Horse & Wagon. In the 3rd and 4th chukker Horse & Wagon was unable to score any goal while Vishal Singh scored one goal each in both chukkers. Scorers for Cavalry (Red) were Vishal Singh (2), Lt Col Tarun Sirohi (2), Lt Col Navjit Sandhu (1). Scorers for Horse & Wagon were Angad Kalaan (2), Preetendra Singh (1).

Himalayan Horse beat Cavalry (Black) by 6 goals 2.5 and Elevation beat Cavalry (Red) by 5.5 goals to 4 in the last league matches of the Maharaja Jiwaji Scindia Gold Cup (12 goal) polo tournament played today at the Jaipur Polo Ground, New Delhi.

The last league match of Pool A of Maharaja Jiwaji Rao Scindia Gold Cup was played between Cavalry (Black) and Himalayan Horse. Bhupinder Singh opened the account for Himalayan Horse in 1st chukker and Manpal Godara scored 2 goals in the 2nd chukker (one field goal and one 30 yard penalty). In the 2nd chukker Capt Vishal Chauhan and Maj Ravi Rathore scored one goal each for Cavalry (Black) who started with 1/2 goal on handicap while Himalayan Horse could not score any goal in this chukker. The score was 3-2.5 in favour of Himalayan Horse. In the last chukker Abhimanyu Pathak scored one goal and Manupal Godara again scored two goals (one through 60 yard penalty and one fiend goal) to ensure their victory. Scorers for Himalayan Horse were Manupal Godara (4), Abhimanyu Pathak (1), Bhupinder Singh (1). Scorers for Cavalry (Black) were Maj Ravi Rathore (1), Capt Vishal Chauhan (1).

The last league match of Pool B played between Elevation and Cavalry (Red). Satinder Garcha scored two goals for Elevation who started with 1/2 goal on handicap. Lt Col Navjit Sandhu opened the account for Cavalry (Red) in the 2nd chukker. In the 3rd chukker Vishal Singh converted two penalties and Lt Col Navjit Sandhu scored one brilliant goal for Cavalry (Red) while Gerardo Mazzini scored tow goals (one through 40 yard and one field goal). The score was 4.5 to 4 in favour of Elevation. In the last chukker Gerardo Mazzini converted a spot hit to increase their lead and won the match.
